Joshua Barwick
Joshua was born in Yorkshire and trained locally before studying at the academy of
Northern Ballet under Yoko Ichino. At 16 he went on to study at Elmhurst Ballet
School – in association with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Upon graduating in 2010, Joshua went on to join Northern Ballet where he toured the
UK and Europe extensively, dancing in many works by David Nixon including; The
Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Cleopatra, Beauty and the Beast, The Great Gatsby, Giselle
and I got Rhythm. He also was in the creation cast of Kenneth Tindall’s - The
Ultimate Form.
After 4 years Joshua moved to London where he danced as a Principal dancer for
New English Ballet Theatre for a gala performance at the Royal Opera House,
creating the role of the Violinist in Andrew McNicols - The Kreutzer Sonata.
After this short contract Joshua was invited to join Rambert where again he travelled
the UK and Europe performing in a variety of repertoire including, Christopher Bruces;
Ghost Dances, Kim Brandstrupts; Transfigured Night and Life is a Dream, Didy
Veldman’s; The Three Dancer’s, Mark Baldwins; Dark Arteries and The Strange
Charm of Mother Nature, Sound Dance by Merce Cunningham and was also part of
the creation of Sharon Eyal’s Aisha and Abhaya amongst many other works
throughout his time.
Joshua then went on to dance for Company Wayne McGregor, touring the world with
Wayne’s celebrated work; Autobiography. He was part of the creation of Living
Archive which premiered in Los Angeles alongside an evening with the Royal Ballet.
He also created a role in Orpheus and Eurydice alongside the English National Opera
at The London Coliseum. Joshua danced the central duet in Wayne’s; Outlier
alongside Alessandra Ferri, which will remain a special career highlight.
Joshua has been teaching alongside his dance career for many years delivering
company class for many professional dance companies. He has been a guest
teacher at a lot of vocational dance schools in the UK and runs his own
masterclasses and workshops as well as having his own weekly resident class at
Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden, London.
In September 2021, Joshua joined the artistic faculty at Elmhurst Ballet School as a
classical ballet tutor and rehearsal director.

Jody Zimmerman
Jody trained for three years at ‘Bird College’, graduating with a first-class honours Degree. Before this, she trained on a scholarship at the Legat School of Dance.
With a huge love in particular for Jazz and Musical Theatre, her professional credits include shows such as: ‘Dirty Dancing’ (UK&Ireland Tour), ‘We Will Rock You’ (Royal Caribbean Cruise line), ‘Grease the musical’ (Royal Caribbean Cruise line), ‘Billy Elliott’ (Victoria Palace Theatre), ‘Les Miserables’ (The Sondheim Theatre) and ‘The Sound of Music’ (The Palladium).
Jody loved participating in Dance festivals throughout her childhood and is delighted to be at Gravesham in participation with Premiere Scholars.
Shakara Brown
Shakara Brown graduated from the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. She toured the U.K. with BGT winners Diversity and appeared on their ITV Special. She made her West End debut in the hit musical Thriller Live. She also joined the cast of “Bat Out Of Hell” performing on BBC’s Big Night Of Musicals at OVO Manchester Arena.
Shakara has a deep passion for hip hop theatre, regularly taking part in RnD’s for the esteemed “Zoo Nation” and “Boadicea”. She has performed all over the world including, Dubai, Kuwait, France, Germany, Poland, Austria and more! She has worked for various brands including, skittles, Bacardi, puma, urban decay and Littlewoods.
Shakara is currently working in the tv domain appearing in the latest Sky mobile campaign and Channel 4’s “Married at First Sight” Promo. Shakara has worked for TV companies such as Warner Brothers, Amazon, Sky, CBBC and ITV. Shakara can also be seen in the Netflix original “ The Dance 100”!!
